Full Blown

Last week my husband went to the doctor because he's been losing weight without dieting. He had been postponing his doctor appointments for the longest time. Either he was busy, lazy, or afraid.

He was diagnosed as having full blown diabetes because his blood sugar shot up to 300. The doc gave him medications to take and insulin injection whenever his blood sugar goes up to more than 200. A year ago he was diagnosed as a borderline diabetic. I told him time and time again to eat right, to exercise and to stop smoking. He wouldn't listen.

Since last week, major changes has occured in his lifestyle. He started eating right and exercising, too. He also plans to quit smoking (again) soon. His diabetes is under control (for the moment and I hope it stays that way!!).

How sad that it has to come to this before he realizes that he should have taken better care of his health.

I can hear my father say, "prevention is always better than cure!" Indeed, words of wisdom!
